Nisa Nguyen from Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas will be joining Linguistic Horizons this summer for our Nutrition and Natural Medicine plus Internship in Peru programs! We can’t wait to welcome her in the Sacred Valley of the Incas! Get to know her better in this interview.
Tell us more about you:
“I am a Vietnamese-American multi-disciplinary artist working on my undergrad in Graphic Design and minor studies in Jazz Performance. Some of my creative hobbies include rope/yarn weaving, jazz vibraphone/synth, and contemporary dance.”
What is your main motivation for participating in the program? “I’ve never had an opportunity to study abroad and most of my life has encompassed exploring holistic healing. When I came across Linguistic Horizons, it was the perfect opportunity for me to take the leap into a group study abroad experience.”
What organizations are you involved in on campus? “I’m currently involved in the Tarrant County Community College Jazz ensemble group on campus, and off campus I intern at a coworking space called Flocc Studios.”
What are some of the places/things on your bucket list? “On my current bucket list of places to visit is South America/Latin America, Australia, Hawaii, Italy, and Germany. My ultimate dream is I would love to be able to deep sea dive.”
What are your future career goals? “In my career, I aspire to be a part of communal experiences that utilize alternative expressions/arts and healing practices.”
What motivated you to choose Peru? “The ancient history and vastness of the landscape of Peru drew me to this location and opportunity.”

What is your proudest accomplishment? “I have been able to participate in a small handful of local group art/performance shows amidst the pandemic showcasing paintings and woven work of mine, and I would love to continue being a part of more in the near future.”
